For those who may not know, starting January of this year, Amazon added a new ‘feature’ for readers. It is an AI Chat Bot that allows those who read eBooks to “chat” with characters of a book. The issue is, in order to have this cool feature, Amazon has to scan in an eBook into their database where the writer essentially looses control of their content as the Bot uses the scanned information to ‘answer’ for the character. The way Amazon is implementing this feature is to add to their terms and conditions that if you publish with them, you accept their incorporation of your work in its entirety into their database, of which you have no control of the content from that point forward. You can see how this is not the most attractive option for a writer; to lose control of ones work.
Due to this new feature of theirs, I am no longer providing my titles as eBooks under Amazon. If they remove the feature or the mandatory participation aspect, I may return my catalog to Kindle. However, in the meantime, I still publish eBooks through various other distributors. Be sure to check out the Online Bookstore on this site.
